Commuter of the Day 12/16/2009: He Who Smelt it, Dealt it.

I was at Wal-mart last night (my daughter is in her school chorus, and they sang Christmas carols there, something they do every year....it's a good practice for them, because they're also singing at the Governor's Mansion tomorrow), and walking through the parking lot I saw this license plate. On what is probably a very expensive Corvette.

I somehow don't think such a license plate would ever appear on a Jaguar or a Mercedes Benz. But a Corvette? I'm not surprised at all.

  1. I can imagine Beryl down at the DMV looking at the request for H O O F R T D and thinking there is no way that could be offensive.

  2. Or even better, knowing that the guy is trying to pull one over on them, but she can't quite crack the code to prove it.

  3. Agreed! I love muscle cars and sports cars but there's just something about "Vettes" that has always seemed like the car of the douchey-dickless to me. Not a fan.

And I haven't met a single person whose bought one in the last two decades that didn't end up with a frickin' oil leak at some point. Usually within the first few months!

Chevy farted and they named it "Corvette".

  4. At last: one that didn’t have to be deciphered for me. At least if it’s ‘Who farted.’ I hope so, or I’ll just have made a fool of myself.

The things we miss out on in the UK by not being allowed to have personalised number plates. This is the true meaning of living in a totalitarian state.

  5. Simon, I think the British would really take personalized plates to a new comedic level. Although, it would be impossible to somehow convey on a plate, "Oh, you're German? I thought there was something wrong with you!"

  6. Heidi, I have never been a Vette fan. I like my sports cars a little sleeker, not so muscle-ish. Small European coups, preferably the British or German varieties. Vettes always seemed to be the kind of sports/muscle car that Trailer Trash would buy if they somehow sold enough blood plasma to make the down payment.

Now, if Chevy would return to the original Vette design of the 50's, like Ford and Chevy did with the Mustang and Camaro, they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelf.

  8. See, I automatically assumed it was short for "hoofed retard" since you are in Georgia.

  9. Hehehe. How was the performance in front of the Governor? Just think if you were in Carlifornya she'd be presenting to Arnie. She could finish it off with "A boy has a penis. A girl has a vagina" or something else cool, like "I'll be baaack."
